July 29, 2000 USA News Robin Hood Pooh
Pooh just arrived in Disneyland and from what I understand he will be available in the USA Disney Catalog. He will also be out the UK August 8th. It will be interesting to see if he will be exactly the same or not. Pirate Pooh UK came with a the parrot and the USA version did not. Nitewear Pooh USA came in blue silk nite gown and the UK version ended up coming in peach and blue plaid flannel carrying a bear. Thanks to Taimantis for the alert and picture!

July 27, 2000 No Bean Bag News to report yet. If you didn't see the New Items coming out in the UK scan down. We have them early thanks to Baloo! They were posted late Wednesday afternoon. _______________ NEW PAGE and I need your help I am really fond of the Furry or Fuzzy items coming from Japan. It seems as if there has been quite a few of them released lately. I know a lot of collectors, including myself, are getting them. This has spurred me into creating a page for them, a picture reference, for me and other collectors to view and use.

Chicago Plush's These hard to find plush's are now available at Disney online. Chicago Blue's Mickey Plush is closest most of us will get to the very limited bean bag released on August 5, 1999, in dedication of the newest Disney Store in downtown Chicago, the home of the blues. I heard about 220 were released of this very limited "Blues Mickey bean bags".
There were quite a few new Plush's available and I couldn't help but share this cute picture of Sleepy as the Dwarfs are one of my favorites!

There has been some talk and question as to if this Tigger is a Mbbp. I would not consider this Tigger a mbbp. I think that he is very cute and defiantly a nice addition to anyone's collection. I am very glad to have him in mine. I think that is more like Fuu Mickey & Minnie, Furry Piglet and they should have their own category. They are very well made, have beans in them but are different than most of the Mbbp we see. I would love to hear your comments so please take a minute to reply on the Collector's Alert Forum There is 2 different sizes. The larger one cost 2400 yen and looks to have had the addition of a frog and butterfly added to him.

The tag is very different from a regular Mbbp. Just as with the little Little Star's Poohs this item has a single sided tag. The tag is also different in style than other items we have seen from Japan.
Here you see him pictured with the small version of Furry Piglet (another new Japan item). His fur is very soft and silky to feel. An interesting note is that his stripe above his eyebrows are glued on and feel like felt.
He is much lighter, more of a plush type feel. I did notice that he has beans in his butt unlike Fireman Tigger which has bean through out his whole body.
July 24, 2000 Those who emailed Disney Australia are now getting phone calls to confirm their email orders. Looks like Cow, Frog, Sheep, Dog, Pig And White Rabbit Dangles have showed up in USA Disney Stores. At First glance you might say, "Oh, those are the same as 1999 Kimono Mickey and Minnie." For that was my first thought. But I have been told that they are a bit different. In the picture they look to be a bit brighter in color and more to the pink than red. Also is you look at the picture the new set doesn't have the wide black lines on their faces.

Yuki was kind enough to send up comparison pictures of Furry Pooh next to Simply Pooh set from the UK. Before I saw them together I thought they looked almost identical. Now that I see the pictures, I can tell that there are differences. Furry pooh is bigger and a bit more yellow in color.Furry items do have beans in them. The ones pictured below are 7-8" in size. I would say that they still remind me of the Fuu Mickey set, which had beans in them and were furry. There are several sizes available. This size cost 2200 yen

on 14th July, that name is "Pooh Corner". July 18, 2000 Furry items from TDL A new attraction will be opening up in Tokyo Disneyland called Pooh Hunt. Right now there is a new shop "Pooh Corner" that has spurred some new items from Disney in relationship to the new attraction.

We also see some different sized furry Pooh family items.
They do have beans in them. The ones pictured below are 7-8" in size. I would say that they look a lot like Fuu Mickey set, which had beans in them and were furry. The 7-8" size cost 2200 yen which is a bit more than regular beans but well worth for the quality and feel of these items.

Band Mickey #12252002 _________________________________________________ Movie & Litho News The other day it was reported that USA Disney Stores were doing pre-sale on two new Movies. The First was Little Mermaid and the litho is a four pack pictured below.
The second was Toy Story 2. The Disney Store online has this movie and Bonus litho offer. I did not see the litho offer for Little Mermaid II.
I also want to note for those Toy Story fans that coming soon (next month is what I think the CM said) to USA Disney Stores will be a Buzz light year movie. _________________________________________________
Pooh & Friends Christmas is just around the corner or so it seems. To make you feel like the year is even going quicker some of the stores already have Christmas items out. Yesterday, on a shopping trip to the mall, I came across several new statue's for the Holidays from the Pooh & Friend series.
Three new ornament Statue's. Hunny Holidays (pictured above), Pooh in Stocking and he is coming out the top and another round ornament with picture on the front. In Statue there was Pooh and Piglet ice skating, Eeyore as Reindeer and a Halloween one with Tigger in Pooh suit. The last two were very similar to bean bags released in the past! I found that they make quite a few of the statues that match the bean bags. I just love getting the statues to match the bean bags. I created a page to show the other statues and similar bean bags. July 13, 2000 - updated Halloween is just around the corner. Baloo tells me that the UK is expecting these new items sometime in the future.Pooh and Tigger Witches (do not know the exact name they will carry yet) They have black witches hats, black capes and were on a broomstick. Very similar to how MINNIE is dressed below.
We are also to see another type Pumpkin Pooh for Halloween. This time Pooh will be coming out of a pumpkin much like Pooh came out of the heart for Valentine's day. Will post more information or pictures when I get them.
July 13, 2000 Well it looks like it was reported by those who had received their Disney Catalog that Rolie Polie Olie (olie, Spot, Zoie) are catalog exclusive.
A note on collecting Bean Bags have become very rare in USA Disney Stores. There are barely any alerts on Becky's Board concerning new beans in stores. There is no assigned Bean Bag spot in the Disney stores. Now to make matters worse, it is being reported that when you call a Disney Store you get a recording instead of a CM. This adds even more frustration for the USA Collector. I do know that a majority of the bean bags are available via catalog or online ordering. The positive side of getting your bean bags this way is you can usually get free shipping (on orders over a certain amount) and a discount. But what will this change do for the future of collecting in the USA? Another Question: Do you think the USA is seeing fewer releases? or does it just seem that way? ~ Due to the fact that we have better coverage and information coming to us about UK and Japan released items.
July 12, 2000 There isn't much to report today. Next week July 18th we will see Marie with hat & Penny feather boa, limited edition bean bags fir the UK. Nothing new reported in the USA or Japan as of yet.

They are both dressed in a luxurious velveteen fabric. Minnie is in her traditional Pokka dot dress and Mickey's tux is a rich deep burgundy. Both have the year 2000 embroidered on their foot and have a commemorative 45th Anniversary hang tag.
Annual Passholders can purchase 5 each visit. There are several on ebay already and TAIMANTIS also has them available on her site.

Japan did not receive the whole set of Birthstone's ... just August through December. Unlike the USA they didn't have to wait for the corresponding month. They are all available now. August

December If you want to view all the Birthstone Minnies Jan - Dec 2000 click here ____________________________________ As Tigger Comparison Well we have three different Pooh's from three different countries. The USA Pooh (far right) was released for Halloween. It is not part of the As Tigger set but I am mentioning it because it is so similar to the Pooh Japan just got. They are both wearing the same furry type Tigger outfit. The USA Halloween version has 1999 on his foot. Where the Japan version has no date. Also Yuki tells me that the Halloween pooh has old Pooh face but that Tigger Movie Pooh as Tigger has New style pooh face. The UK Pooh as Tigger was most different because the suit was made of a thin cotton. The UK version has 2000 date on his foot. Another interesting note is that Tigger came in the bag of "As Tigger" set from Japan.

July 6, 2000 Next release of Mbbp that we know of will be this coming Tuesday, July 11th. The UK will release Highland Mickey and Minnie and Leopard Pooh. Baloo tells me that the Highland set are very well done with both of them in traditional Scottish attire. Mickey even has bagpipes. It appears that they Highland set will very limited. Leopard Pooh is normal pooh in Leopard Suit very well stuffed again!
July 4, 2000 New Friendship Pooh Japan Disney Stores will have a Friendship day Pooh on the 1st of August. He will only be available on that day and will be a limited edition. The Japanese Disney site says that he will be available worldwide also.

July 2, 2000 New Mbbp at Disneyland!
New Band Mbbp Fab 5 set has been released at Disneyland. They are wearing red and white band uniform with gold braiding and gold tassels on his shoulders! They have Disneyland exclusive tags. Mickey is the drum major, Minnie the Majorette, Donald is carrying a French horn. Pluto is carrying the drum on his back. Goofy is holding drum. Sandra says that they are very bright and colorful. They are similar in size to the 4th of July pooh set. Thanks to Sandra and momstoys for the alert! |
